ABS Registration Heralds a New Dawn for the Legal Profession

ABS registration is with us at long last, and as many of your will already know, here at Langley Wellington we take pride in being a current and proactive part of the legal profession. So it may come as no surprise when you discover that were the first legal organisation in Gloucestershire to achieve ABS registration. We are also only the 15th in the whole of England to achieve registration. Our license, (issued by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority) comes into force as from the 1st of October this year.

The Alternative Business Structure (ABS) registration heralds a new dawn within the legal profession, a dawn that promises a more competitive market for clients, and a greater diversity of activities for member organisations.

ABS registration means that non lawyers, will for the first time in the history of the legal profession, be legally entitled to become owners of legal businesses. This move creates opportunities for talented managers, and gifted entrepreneurs. They can now become a part of the legal business framework, bringing a new rich vein of business knowledge and experience with them. The Conveyancing Quality Scheme – The Conveyancing World’s Mark of Excellence

The Conveyancing Quality Scheme, (a scheme administered by the Law Society), is the conveyancing world’s mark of excellence. It regulates performance of member solicitors with a view to making sure that the conveyancing process is handled efficiently, and professionally, within the shortest time frame.

Sad to say, a fast, cheap service can sometimes lead to corners being cut. These cut corners can inevitably lead to problems arising that may result in an abortive transaction or cause severe delays and additional stress to all involved. Continue reading

Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund Gain a New Supporter

The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (Linc) has got a new supporter to help them with their fund-raising – namely us here at Cotswold Conveyancing Centre, the Residential Conveyancing Department of Langley Wellington. Leukaemia is a dreadful disease, one which indiscriminately affects people irrespective of age or gender. It creates huge distress in families across the world. Whilst there is little impact we can make on the global issue of Leukaemia, we do feel that we can make a significant contribution on the local scene in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, and South Worcestershire.

The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy fund-raising organisation plough their financial support into the cancer centre at Cheltenham General Hospital. Here it is put to work improving the care that cancer patients are given in terms of both financial and psychological support. Linc director Dr Gill Rouse was absolutely delighted with the news that Langley Wellington will be helping to raise money on their behalf. She stated that a year’s worth of fundraising was actually great news. Continue reading
